As an educator, I aim to make an inclusive and safe classroom in order to support my students and their creative expressions. I value creating a community in the classroom as well as integrating students' personal interests, backgrounds, and concerns about their communities into our coursework. By doing this, not only will a bond develop with the students, but I will be able to understand my students' lives outside of the academic world and what may externally impact our time together in school.

Integrating my minor in Psychology and the understanding I have gained in classes about using art as therapy, I find it important to integrate using art as a way to decompress before learning can begin. Art encourages students to dig deep and find what a student wants to create, and in order to do that, I find it valuable for students to wind down and ground themselves in order to apply themselves in class.
